Spoiler warning! This article contains major in-game spoilers. |
New Lumos (Japanese: ネオンシティ Neon City) is a sprawling metropolis inhabited mostly by monsters and powerful bosses. They are so powerful, that apparently not even the Darker Lord could control them.
It is accessible from the World Map after defeating the Darker Lord.
It is split into 8 Districts, each housing a powerful District boss. The player can fight each District boss once a day. The only other points of interest are the Tower of Dread, which requires clearing any Districts from 3-8 and someone special to be summoned, and the Tower of Despair.
Characters[]
Ex-Dark Lord[]
Upon arriving in New Lumos for the first time, the player will meet the Ex-Dark Lord Mii telling them to back away from this very dangerous place. He also mentions that guarding New Lumos is now his job and sometimes complains about how unsafe he also is.
Reborn Mii (Dark Curse) (if saved)[]
After clearing the 3rd District (or higher), the Mii which was the Dark Curse will appear at the opposite end of New Lumos. Talking to him will make Tower of Dread appear. He then goes off forever, never to be seen in post-game again. Weirdly, the game makes him not have anything to do with the Tower of Despair.

Tower of Dread[]
Main article: Tower of Dread
The Tower of Dread (Japanese: 王の塔 Ō no tō; Tower of Kings) is a boss gauntlet that appears in New Lumos after the player clears any three Districts and speak to the Reborn, who summons it as "your last trial". This level is not classified as a dungeon or an individual level due to the fact the player goes straight to battles without any intermissions between each boss. The player's party will not be restored between floors, nor do the Sprinkles.
Tip: It is not recommended you try this without having good enough stats first as the bosses there are hard to defeat and you don't get a rest or have your Sprinkles restored between battles. It is also recommended that you defeat all eight bosses individually beforehand so you have a better idea of what you are facing.
It contains eight total floors with each floor representing a District in order. For each floor the player beats the first time, a Medal will be granted.

Tower of Despair[]
Main article: Tower of Despair
The Tower of Despair (Japanese: 神の塔 Kami no tō; Tower of Gods) is a dungeon introduced in the Nintendo Switch version of Miitopia. It is located in New Lumos, and is unlocked after successfully taking on the Tower of Dread. It stands at around the same height as the Tower of Dread, having eight floors in total. The community used to call it "Tower of Gods" due to its internal names, much like the Tower of Dread being called "Tower of Kings".
The Tower of Despair is a large tower with a large globe-like structure on top of it. Both the tower and the globe are crumbling apart and moving around the tower freely, as bits and pieces of its walls are missing. Hexagonal patterns are present on the tower, and it is surrounded by dark clouds that swirl around it. It is also partially submerged in the stormy waters surrounding New Lumos.

Tips[]
- It is highly suggested that you have a full team of Mii characters at level 50 with Legendary equipment.
- A Cleric is strongly recommended, if not a requirement due to it having a 100% chance to revive with Giga Resurrection and can heal the entire team with Giga Panacea. They can also instantly kill the Red Fiend with Righteous Anger, because, due to the Red Fiend not being considered a boss, it is not immune to instant death or status effects.
- A Vampire is also recommended due to the fact they send back half of the damage back to enemies.
- A Scientist can also be proven useful for their Safety Mask, saving a Mii from occasional Status Effect. A Princess‘ Blindfold ability also achieves the same effect.
- Try to conserve your Sprinkles, especially HP and Shield, as you'll need them on the later floors of the Tower. Only use your life sprinkle if your healer is KO'd or you really need to revive someone as a last resort. Use the Safe Spot with any Mii that is low on HP or MP or to hide a certain Mii from attacks.
- To assist with conserving Sprinkles, an Elf is strongly recommended, as their Forest Aegis can help protect Miis from damage facilitating more use of the Safe Spot and conserving HP and Shield Sprinkles. Since most enemies in the Tower of Despair tend to use physical attacks, Counter Arrow also heavily contributes to increasing the team's survivability. They can also contribute to healing with Healing Melody and Forest's Blessing, or damage through Enchanted Arrow and Hail of Arrows. The Elf can also help with the 5th floor especially, because, due to internally not being coded as a boss, the Red Fiend is not immune to being stunlocked by Dancing Arrow, essentially removing the threat of the Red Fiend's instant kill attack as long as your Elf lives.
- If you don't have the Elf job unlocked, you can alternatively bring an Elf traveler or the Youngest Fab Fairy. Keep in mind that the Youngest Fab Fairy can only use dancing arrow and the default attack.
- It is also recommended that your party has good grub levels for all the stats (somewhere between 40-99).
Trivia[]
- Even if New Lumos is one of the last places you go in the game, entering it gives you the first of all Medals.
- All New Lumos bosses are in the bottom of the Monsters category, but defeating them gives you the first Medals.
- 1st District
- The third stage has the player encounter enemies five times in a row before reaching an Inn, and it only contains Brand-New Robot, Retroputer, and Facerberus, making it very difficult to go through if the Mii characters are only around level 25 unprepared, but it also works out as one of the best grinding areas in the game.
- 4th District
- There is unused code in the game files that can make Red Dragons and Twerpeas spawn in the levels.
- However, they can both be potentially encountered in the Nintendo Switch version before an Outing begins.
- The first stage is one of the only instances of recurring common events after fully beating the stage, with resentment events recurring in the "Don't do it" path, and the pitfall event recurring in the "Trap" path. The only other instance of recurring common events in the game is in the second hidden stage of Otherworld, specifically the "Banana hunt" path. Other stages with recurring events tend to have fixed unique events exclusive to those stages (like the "hidden path" event in Wayward Woods).
- There is unused code in the game files that can make Red Dragons and Twerpeas spawn in the levels.
- 6th District
- There is unused code in the game files that can make Red Orochis and Giant UFOs spawn in the levels.
- However, they can both be potentially encountered in the Nintendo Switch version before an Outing begins.
- There is unused code in the game files that can make Red Orochis and Giant UFOs spawn in the levels.
- 7th District
- There is unused code in the game files that can make Gold Crystals and Ancient Robots spawn in the levels.
- However, they can both be potentially encountered in the Nintendo Switch version before an Outing begins.
- There is unused code in the game files that can make Gold Crystals and Ancient Robots spawn in the levels.
- 8th District
- There is unused code in the game files that can make Replica Dark Lords and Extra Spicy Burgers spawn in the levels.
- However, they can both be potentially encountered in the Nintendo Switch version before an Outing begins.
- If a battle is encountered during an Outing while on the boss stage in the overworld, instead of the regular battle background, the battle background will be the same as the one in the boss battle, with the party being closer to the middle and the monsters being so far back that they will be slightly off of the stage. This is the only stage to do this.
- There is unused code in the game files that can make Replica Dark Lords and Extra Spicy Burgers spawn in the levels.
- Tower of Dread & Tower of Despair
- In the game files there are drop rates and experience points that enemies can drop in the Tower of Dread and Tower of Despair, though in the game, enemies do not drop any grub or experience points so nothing is gained after clearing either tower or failing.
- This is the same case for grub, though if the player has a Cat in the team, the Mii can steal grub from them. Also, Chefs can use Monster Dinner on the Red Fiend.
- In the Tower of Dread, boss battles that would normally use "Boss Battle II" as their background music will use "Boss Battle III" instead.
- The Miitopia characters “FACE” and “KAO” ("face" in Japanese) can be seen in the background.
- The Tower of Dread Apex is extremely similar to Darker Lord's Domain, except colored green rather than purple.
- In the Nintendo Switch version, beating the Tower of Dread unlocks the Tower of Despair.
- On the wall made up of hexagons in the Tower of Despair, some of the hexagons have Mii facial features engraved on them.
- Along with this, the hexagonal shapes may be based off of the hexagon-shaped scales found on the Boss Snurp.
