Royal Court

The Royal Court are members of royalty and nobility who play a key role in the beginning of the game's story.

King[]

"Greenhorne's king. A much-loved gentle giant with a large appetite."

Before the player gains the right to see the King, players must get the Mayor's Introduction by saving every one of the townspeople to get past the Castle Guard. When first introduced to the player he welcomes them to his home and offers them food. Upon hearing of the Dark Lord he initially calls it fake or a tall tale, however, his face is stolen right after.

After his face is recovered from the "King" Golem, he thanks the group, and asks them to warn the Princess of the Dark Lord. He later overhears her speaking with the player about her feelings for the Besmirched Noble's Son, to which he interrupts and reminds her of her engagement to the Prince of a Nearby Land. From there he requests the player to go and find him, and bring him to the castle.

He later hears fighting going on in the Princess's chambers, and comes to find that the Noble's Son and the Prince are arguing, with the Princess attempting to stop it from escalating. He then asks the player to get a special fruit to help calm everyone down. You find it by tapping a prompt in a Greenhorne level in the forest. The fruit looks like a peach with a blue color and will be found in the "key items" section in the journal.

When the player arrives back to the Castle after finding the calming fruit, the Princess's face is stolen by the Dark Lord. The King watches as the Prince flees in cowardice back to his home in Neksdor, while the Nobleman charges out towards the newly formed Nightmare Tower proclaiming he will get the Princess's face back. The player finds him battling the General "Princess", only to lose. After defeating General "Princess" when the group is celebrating the Princess's rescue, the King rewards the Noble's son for his bravery, despite the danger and his fear by calling off the wedding between the Princess and the Prince so that she and the Noble's son may be together.

The King can later be found at an Oasis in the Neksdor Desert. He provides the player one of his Royal Roasts. Other than that, he can mainly be found chomping on more roasts in his castle. You can also get a royal roast from the roulette.

However, some time before the protagonist's venture into The Sky Scraper, the Darker Lord will tell the player that he has summoned an old friend or two to The Sky Scraper, including the king and princess. After the party is split into half, the protagonist's party--together with the Ex-Dark Lord--find the faces of the King and the Princess together.

The King's face will be placed on a stronger version of the monster his face was first placed on, a Strong "King" Golem, and is fought together with the Gold General "Princess". Before being placed on the monster, the king asks if this could wait until after dinner, with the princess's response being "deary me." The party manages to defeat them both, with their faces returning to their respective owners. The King and the Princess both directly encourage the player to defeat the Darker Lord, which afterwards the King continues eating his Royal Roast.

During the credits, he is seen visibly upset without his Royal Roast. The Castle Guard is seen each eating one Royal Roast per soldier, with the Royal Support (Left) eventually noticing the King.

Role in Miitopia: Casting Call[]

The King only appears in the Venture Forth trailer. His role may not be chosen before watching the Venture Forth trailer for the first time. In there, he is first seen eating his Royal Roast. He eventually lands onto the ground (without the Royal Support, who are noticeably absent in the trailer), causing the party to fall.

After the Dark Lord appears in Greenhorne Castle (unnamed in Miitopia: Casting Call) to steal the Princess' face, he tearfully then tasks the Warrior and their party to save the Princess, which they accept. Once their party leaves, the King then continues to eat his Royal Roast, which his faceless daughter replies with silent disappointment.

Appearance[]

The King is a giant overweight Mii with a crown and wears a red outfit with striped pants, a handkerchief around his neck.

Princess[]

"Fairest in the land, the king's only daughter harbors a secret love."

Upon first meeting the Princess, she is surprised her father's face was stolen, but is thankful to the heroes that his face was returned. She then comments about how a friend of hers has been gone a while, and requests the heroes go check up on him, claiming he was headed towards Greenhorne village.

When she is approached by the player after helping the Noble's Son save the Sassy Child, she expresses relief to hear he is safe. However, her conversation with the heroes is interrupted by her father, who claims she should just forget about him. He then reminds her of her arranged marriage with the Prince, which saddens her.

Later she is seen spending time with the Noble's Son, who had snuck into the castle to visit her much to her delight. Their happy moment is ruined however when the Prince charges in demanding why the Princess was speaking to the Noble's Son. The King then asks the player to get a special fruit to help calm everyone down.

Later on when the group is celebrating the Princess's rescue, the King rewards the Noble's son for his bravery, despite the danger and his fear by calling off the wedding between the Princess and the Prince, so that she and the Noble's son may be together. This delights the Princess, causing her to jump into the Noble's Son's arms and embrace him tightly.

After this point the Princess and Noble's Son can be seen spending time together in her room, proclaiming their love for one another as he vows to protect her.

However, some time before the protagonist ventures into The Sky Scraper, the Darker Lord will steal the faces of many major NPCs, the Princess being one of them. After the party is split into half, the protagonist's party--together with the Ex-Dark Lord-- find the faces of the King and the Princess together.

Role in Miitopia: Casting Call[]

The Princess only appears in the Venture Forth trailer. Her role may not be chosen before watching the Venture Forth trailer for the first time. She is shortly revealed after the King, twirling around with a dramatic effect. The entire party is then seen being infatuated by her charm.

Not too long after, the Dark Lord suddenly shows up to steal her face, leaving the castle in ruin. The King then tasks the Warrior and their party to save the Princess, which they comply with. The faceless Princess then replies with silent disappointment after seeing her father just continuing to eat his Royal Roast.

After a long journey through Miitopia, the party then encounter the General "Princess" in what seems to be the Nightmare Tower, seen with the Princess' face attached to it. It is unknown what happens to the Princess afterwards.

Appearance[]

The princess has long blonde hair and wears a pink dress with white gloves and has tiara on her head. In the ending, the princess wears a white wedding gown is which used from the Princess job's gowns.

Besmirched Noble's Son[]

"Grew up with the princess, but now rarely gets the chance to see her."

Upon arriving to Greenhorne Village players are greeted by the Worried Mother. She claims her child has gone missing once again, and despite having asked someone else to find them, she had second thoughts about asking him. Players will then find the Besmirched Noble's Son trying (and failing) to save the Sassy Child from three Goblins.

After rescuing the child the Noble's Son thanks the player for their daring rescue. Upon hearing the Princess was worried for him, he rushes off to see her at the castle.

He is then seen again having snuck into the castle to see the Princess, happy to see her once more. However, their tender moment is interrupted by the Prince, who charges in demanding to know who the youth is. When he claims they are friends the Prince laughs at the notion, then tells the Noble's Son he is the Princess's fiancé. The Noble's son then claims the Prince is 'too much of a dork' and that he does not want to allow the marriage to happen. The two begin fighting with one another, despite the Princess's protests wishing for them to stop. The King then asks the player to get a special fruit to help calm everyone down.

When the player arrives back at the Castle after finding the calming fruit, the Princess's face is stolen by the Dark Lord. Determined to set things right, despite being afraid, the Noble's Son charges past the King, out the castle front gates to the newly formed Nightmare Tower in an attempt to get her face back.

He is later found at the top of the tower by the player, who is attempting to combat the monster General "Princess" all by himself, although dealing zero damage. After the Princess's face is saved, he rushes back to the castle to check up on her to see if she's ok.

Later on, when the group is celebrating the Princess's rescue, the King rewards the Noble's son for his bravery, despite the danger and his fear. The King calls off the wedding between the Princess and the Prince, so that she and the Noble's son may be together. This delights the Princess, causing her to jump into the Noble's Son's arms and embrace him tightly.

After this point the Princess and Noble's Son can be seen spending time together in her room, proclaiming their love for one another as he vows to protect her.

The credits show him and the Princess in wedding attire together, showing that their relationship lasted and they eventually got married. The Noble Son is shown crying upon seeing the Princess in her bride's gown.

Appearance[]

The Noble's Son is dressed in a blue and white shirt with a white cravat and white leggings. In the ending, he wears a white groom suit in his wedding with the princess.

Prince from a Nearby Land[]

"A prince of Neksdor and the princess's fiancé. Arrogant, but loves his mama/mumsy."

When he first meets the player, he shouts at them, calling them imbeciles for making him wait to be rescued. He then demands the player take him to the princess immediately. During their walks to the castle he rants about how when he and his caravan were attacked, he fled while his guards took care of the monsters, all of whom seem to have vanished afterwards. During battles, he does nothing but watch the player fight and talk about himself, and then afterwards claim victory was all thanks to his 'expert swordsmanship', much to the party's dismay and ire.

When he arrives in the castle he finds that the Princess and the Besmirched Noble's Son are speaking to one another, then challenges him to a fight. Demanding to know who the Noble's Son is, he laughs at the thought. When asked who he is, he proudly proclaims he is the Princess's fiancé. The Noble's Son then claims he won't allow it to happen. The two begin fighting with one another, despite the Princess's protests wishing for them to stop. The King then asks the player to get a special fruit to help calm everyone down.

When the player arrives back to the Castle after finding the calming fruit, the Princess's face is stolen by the Dark Lord. Panic stricken, the Prince flees the castle screaming and crying for his mother, running right past the king as he exits the castle to return to Neksdor, while the Besmirched Noble's Son runs off to rescue the missing face.

While wandering the desert in Neksdor lamenting his called off marriage to the Princess, he finds a magic lamp containing the Genie. He tells the Prince that he can grant a wish for him, for freeing him. After releasing him from the lamp the Prince is denied his wishes, as the Genie had only been lying to him to get set free from the lamp.

From this point, the Prince can be found wandering the desert lamenting over his cancelled wedding, as well as crying for his mama.

During the credits, it is shown that the Prince never stopped crying and being bitter about the cancelled wedding. The Genie is also seen attempting to comfort him, but the Prince is visibly still upset about the lie.

Appearance[]

The Prince wears a golden turban with a red gem in the middle of the hat and a orange feather hanging and wears a golden coat with brown leggings.

Differences of roles in Miitopia: Casting Call[]

Due to the somewhat different narrative presented in the Venture Forth trailer (and Miitopia: Casting Call in general), there are some differences between their roles in the trailer and Miitopia.

The King's and the Princess' role descriptions are different in the Mii Casting/Appearance menu.
- The King's description is "Ruler of a certain land. A much-loved gentle giant with a large appetite."
- The Princess' description is "The king's only daughter, known as the fairest in the land."
It is never directly mentioned where the King is ruling. The closest thing to a mention is it being called "a certain land."
The Royal Support are not present anywhere the King is a part of the trailer. The King is instead seeing landing on the ground alone, presumably without any help, during his introduction in the Venture Forth trailer.
The Princess' introduction happens immediately after the King's, instead of sometime after rescuing the King's face. The Princess is also shown being more charming towards the party compared to her introduction in Miitopia's story.
The Prince from a Nearby Land and the Besmirched Noble's Son do not appear in any of the trailers. Because of this, there is no plot about an arranged marriage and a love triangle.
The Dark Lord steals the face of the Princess sometime after the party first arrives in Greenhorne Castle (the castle is never named in Miitopia: Casting Call itself), instead of while the player is getting the Calming Fruit. The King's face is also seemingly never stolen beforehand.

Trivia[]

Promotional material from Nintendo of Europe (for all languages supported) give the following names to the Royal Court used in official artwork:
- The King is given the name Freddie, and is described as the idea of choosing "your headteacher" for the role.
- The Princess is given the name Mona, and is described as the idea of choosing a "girl in your class" for the role.
  - The names Freddie and Mona are also used for their respective characters in American promotional material.
- The Prince from a Nearby Land is named John.
- The Besmirched Royal's Son is named Jeff.
The default option in the Switch version gives the Miis often seen in promotions different names.
- The King is named Reggie.
- The Princess is named Marianne.
- The Prince from a Nearby Land is named Jace.
- The Besmirched Noble's Son is named Sonny.
The King and Princess are the only ones of the Court who get their faces stolen.

In the "Karaoke" outing, one of the King's official artwork is used in a Poster, It also uses the official Mii for the King, rather than the assigned Mii in the file.
The Prince from a Nearby Land has unique dialogue if the player loses in the battle upon escorting him to the castle.
